It first requires a sign of will from people inside Sun/Oracle as we the 
Community currently cannot directly influence/control the software that comes 
with Solaris.

Note that star compiles/works on more than 30 Platforms including Solaris. 
There 
is no need to work on the code unless somebody is able to express a wishlist 
for changes in star and this list gets accepted.

It is more important to finally integrate star in general. FreeBSDs libarchive 
misses a lot of the features found in star.
