i think that the existing kernel nvidia driver doesn't work
with b28 - b29 because of a couple bugs:
6358242 nvidia driver does not attach to PCI-E boards after 6326583
6358236 gfx_private driver doesn't know about pciex
both bugs were introduced in b28 and fixed in b30.
i recently upgraded from b24 to b28 and found that the nv driver
wasn't working. i managed to work around 6358242 by commenting
out:
vgatext "pciclass,000100"
vgatext "pciclass,030000"
vgatext "pciclass,030001"
in /etc/driver_aliases.
i worked around 6358236 by installing a new gfx_private module.
(i don't know if the new module is actually availble for external
download. sorry.)
