Hi, The information you found on BigAdmin is for the Solaris 10 3/05 release only. Support for upgrading when non-global zones are configured began in the Solaris 10 1/06 release. So, if you are upgrading to the S10 1/06 release, your non-global zones will be preserved. In your case, you also have SVM controlled metadevices. You can use standard upgrade programs that also preserve your SVM volumes. You cannot use Solaris Live Upgrade. The programs that preserve your zones and volumes are:
o The Solaris installation program provides a wizard to step you through the installation process. See http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0544/6mgbagb12?a=view o The JumpStart program provides an automated installation and is normally used for installing a group of systems - For an overview of JumpStart, see http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5506/6mkv6ki6e?a=view - For specific keywords that can be used when zones are configured, see the section, "Limiting Profile Keywords When Upgrading With Non-Global Zones" http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5506/6mkv6kib0?a=view o Basic overview info on upgrading with zones is in this section "Installing and Upgrading When Using Non-global Zones" http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5506/6mkv6ki5e?a=view o Zones documentation provides much detailed information: - See "Upgrading a Solaris 10 System That Has Installed Non-Global Zones for links to backup information for systems with zones installed. http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1592/6mhahuoue?a=view o For detailed information about zones, see: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1592/6mhahuons?a=view Hope this helps, Michelle OpenSolaris Doc Community This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
