Which, unfortunately, will probably not get you much. I've worked with dozens
of salesmen from Sun at various different clients of all sizes (my current
company is one of Sun's Top 10 clients), and I'm basically convinced that Sun
doesn't have a roadmap that stretches longer than 6 months, and even those are
pretty flexible.

I've found it is often fairly easy to get information about currently active
projects but almost impossible to get any kind of idea of when they will
actually be complete and ship. For example, I've known about the recently
announced Boston and Seattle boxes for probably better than a year. Up until
the day before the announcement that Serrano had been cancelled (which
supposedly was months before), we were still being told that Serrano would just
be late. It was during early 2Q that we were told they'd be released late
3Q/early 4Q; during 1Q, we were told 2nd half of the year, prior to that
(4Q05), we were told "sometime next year".

As the Solaris product manager for my company, I've asked for a roadmap of when
the updates will be released, and again, I've been given some fairly specific
details of what they expect to be in each release, but until someone here
mentioned that U3 was named 11/06, I still had no idea of the release date.
That's one of the things I love about being involved with OpenSolaris; I get
more information here than I can get through my account team.
