Re-thinking this... OSNet maybe needs to be designated special status in

We don't want to encourage forking at the core (kernel) level, therefore
we
don't need an umbrella kernel community (which is effectively what an
OSNet
community would be), because it doesn't make sense to have an umbrella
over
just one thing.

I don't think OSNet in particular needs special status, but Keith has
suggested we create a special class of communities to represent
consolidations and their C-Teams, of which OSNet would be one of several...

I don't understand (this special class still seems like a set of
communities comprising one project each). But that's OK, it wouldn't be
useful to delve into it here/now. I only skimmed what Keith wrote about
special-class communities, so I'll either go back and read it more closely
or (more likely) watch as the OGB deliberations unfold. Note also, the
proposal made earlier here (to rename the OSNet community from ON to OSNet,
and the OSNet project from ONNV to ON) is in reality only context for the
deliberations. In other words I was jumping the gun in addressing it (but
probably not in saying it's confusing ;-) ).

Eric

It's something
we'll be talking about in the OGB as we get to re-examining the current
state of the communities.
