I think the problem is with the approach. Instead of saying "Make Solaris Linux Like" it should have been, "Focus on User Experience." A good user experience should be the focus, not to make one OS "just like another." Honestly, if you make Solaris just like Linux, then it becomes "yet another Linux distribution" essentially, and that is rather pointless.
All that is not nearly sensationalist enough. If they'd written articles about improving Solaris' user experience, the bitching thread would be much shorter! (Only those that are convinced doing everything in the OS with binary and flip switches would be complaining)
