Are you dual booting?

Have you disabled SATA raid in the bios?

Have you installed the latest BIOS update? I've had a look at it appears
in that in 07/2007 there was an update F.38 which might fix those
problems.

Are you using the graphical or console installer? have you tried the
console based installer (option 4 from the installation menu)?
