If I have a read/writable medium, for example DVD+/-RW, I expect:

All my filesystems to be mounted, automatically:
multiple DVD icon with appropriate FS designation to appear on my desktop and
under /media.

All the filesystems to be freely readable and writable, just as if I had
inserted a floppy disk into a floppy disk drive.

This issue is exacerbated with DVD-RAM, which I happen to have. Media is not
easily writable. It's an artifical limitation in the SCSI driver. And it's
extremely frustrating.
