IIRC, your questions are mainly about a single subject, is it not? If so, then it is possible that the initial in-flux of people in the community does not contain those with sufficient expertise to answer those questions. A lot of bits in Solaris/OpenSolaris are created by groups which have not yet found their way in full onto opensolaris.org.
