So even if it wasn't a full PXE boot, Grub can't even hook into the 
network hardware drivers that are already present in the PXE Boot rom? - 
If not, that's a shame, because it would allow one grub to work on all 
network cards that were PXE capable.

Can you tell me more about this?

The network boot that grub can do (assuming I build a grub that supports 
my card) what type of network boot is it? What does it know how to find 
on the network? and how does it find it?
