Sun management approved the current OpenSolaris charter & constitution,
including the terms for changing it, but there is no legal contract that
I'm aware of forcing them to honor it. If they were to decide they wanted
to scrap the current OpenSolaris governance model, there's nothing I know of
from stopping them from being able to, but I would hope the damage to goodwill
and the community would be strong enough incentive for them not to. Of
course, under the terms of all the existing licenses used in OpenSolaris,
there's nothing stopping the community from picking a new name, its own
governance model, and forking from Sun - which should be additional incentive
for Sun not to screw up.
