I have a suggestion for best practice. This is always wise to follow, no matter what OS you have. Always keep the OS and Data on separate volumes. This way, if you have a crashed system and you must restore from bare metal, you just install the OS, install any additional backup tools you may need (netbackup, star, etc) and then restore the data volume. Regardless of gtar or star, netbackup will never be included.
