Cesar:

Does your system have a /dev/audio and a /dev/audioctl file? If not,
then the problem is likely that your sound card is not supported.

Do non-GStreamer based audio programs such as /usr/bin/audioplay
work?

Brian

I have the same problem. Well almost the same. My sound doesn't work at all and when I try to click the sound icon in the menubar it replies with a popup saying "The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the
panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu."

or when i try to open up volume control it replies saying
"No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found."
whats up? everything worked fine on ubuntu.
