I am not a OpenSolaris developer. So I can't speak for them. It is possible to build your own custom DVD with Distribution Constructor.
http://opensolaris.org/os/project/caiman/Constructor/ There is a KDE version called Korona: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=109878 http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=korona_opensolaris_kde&num=1 I agree it would be a good thing to have a DVD LiveCD/Installer especially in countries where bandwidth is slow and expensive. A lot of reviewers of the live cd criticize OpenSolaris for not having OpenOffice on it. Having some cool tools on a livecd would lead to a more favourable first impression. Finally it is worth noting that it is possible to set up the whole Repo on a stick: http://blogs.sun.com/observatory/en_US/entry/repo_on_a_stick Again useful for bandwidth challenged places. It is probably a bit much for DVD's of the development builds. But a DVD of the 2009.06 release build with productivity and development tools would be of value to a a lot of users. It would be good at Conferences and Trade Shows.
