open solaris should not keep any junk like windows registry after
uninstalling a application. Moreover every open solaris feature
should run with as much less memory and processing as needed
because desktop users are not corporate users with big deep
pockets who can buy memory / processors. If every system component and user
application does not care

about memory and processing during design , development and testing, no amount
of memory and processing is enough. Just do your bit to increase the years a
computer can be used without upgrading memory/processor/disk space.
System components should automatically tweak their usage based on system
hardware configuration. I recently read that zfs uses 1GB memory. This does
not make our lifes any better. os should constantly tweak it's own
settings so that we need not look for applications for tweaking like
we use for windows registry, hard disk for cheking and fixing errors and
defragmentation
, etc.
