I was told in no uncertain terms, by a Sun engineer I respect and trust, that IPS will be "the way forward", come hell or high water, and that unless I migrate to IPS, all of our System V packages will be in "backward compatibility, maintenance mode". So now we're stuck: double engineering effort - produce two sets of every package.
