Hi, I'm very interested in switching from Linux to OpenSolaris, but there seems to be only one obstacle that is preventing me from doing the jump.
I installed the most recent official OpenSolaris release (released in June, 2009) but I am unable to establish an internet connection because I do not have traditional cable-ethernet any more - now I'm solely using Option ICON 225 USB-stick (it's a 3G HSDPA modem) to connect to the internet and this works great in linux (out-of-the-box in Ubuntu). The problem is - OpenSolaris does not seem to support 3G HSDPA USB modems out-of-the-box. Network manager seems to recognize only traditional ethernet cable connections. I suppose there is a possibility to get this device working with OpenSolaris however. Is there anyone else who is having similar problem? Does anyone know whether the newest developer release (that is going to be released officially in february/march) supports 3G HSDPA USB-modems? It would be so great to be able to make the jump so I hope I can find a way to get this working. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
