Good for home users and not enterprise. They are totally dependent on ad revenue, and successful in that arena. But some pretty big guns are pointed at their market share, and only time will tell how things will unfold. They constantly claim they're making themselves attractive for enterprise, but I sure don't see anything even close to supporting that claim yet. Except being the cheapest thing money can buy. (Free at minimum, or $5/mo at max.)
People knock Sun for acquiring MySQL. I'm sure it wasn't long enough ago to have paid for itself yet, but at least MySQL is profitable.
