for those that want to give more personal specific help here is my yahoo email
address. jiminykrikett2...@yahoo.
I bought new acer laptop, specifically to put open Solaris on it to learn it.
I downloaded open solaris 2009.06, approx 161mb. NTI media created an install
disk.
Set laptop to boot from CD.
Disk boots, and have a menu screen. Click an option and I get an old DOS type
screen. But the install fails, file 15 not found or something like that.
So what do I do?
I ordered the live CD disk hope that works.
Today I ran the device finder tool. Found Solaris does not support all devices
on this ACER.
Atheros AR8132/L1c gigabit ethernet adapter, I need a driver for this.
Do I copy it to the cd, and then copy it to the HD after solaris is installed.
If so where.
ATI Technologies SBxooAZALIA (intel HD) Audio HD Solaris driver might work
Where would I get this driver and again where would I install it once Solaris
is running.

Network Atheros communication AR928x wireless network adapter PCI express.
Device checker tool, suggests I come to the community .
So once again I need a driver and where do I install.
Been using Microsoft since dos 2. Acer has windows 7.
I want to remove win7 and have just Open Solaris. Maybe some day virtual box
and windows as a guest.
In windows, file.com or .exe will normally run some kind of application.
What file extension is the same in Solaris.
If I am in wrong forum please forgive, but I am just learning and need help to
get up and running and learning the basics.
