If Oracle did this, Oracle would be in conflict with the CDDL.

If they publish binaries, they need to publish sources as well.

The main problem is that while Sun had a long tradition to do things in the 
open (you could e.g. see what Sun was planning by reading job announcements in 
the internet in the early 1990s already ***), Oracle seems to hide enything.

It would be interesting to see how Oracle id going to replace people who 
surrender without leaking information on their future....



***)  I did e.g. know in 1996 that Sun was planning to write a new filesystem 
        as UFS successor. The positions at that time have been offered in 
        Colorado, so it was not of interest for me...
