Thanks for the reply jKeil but still having no luck. If you can provide simpler advice that would be appreciated. For instance I have no idea what you mean by this:

One line at a time or copy and paste everything at once? I tried both but get "no suck job", command not found" etc... This is my first time with OpenSolaris so I am a noob here and the sound works out of the box with Ubuntu, Mint, gOS, Windows etc...So I know it is not my hardware.
