I haven't booted my OpenSolaris recently. When I did today, the X server crashed again as I previously described in this thread. However, this is a clean reinstall of the system *without* the VM additions. The backtrace is not the same as what is shown in the bug report you mentioned.
I tried to shut the system down (to explore the video RAM issue) by executing the command 'shutdown now.' However, this actually restarted the system. When it came back up, the GUI launched normally. To be clear: the system restarted normally without me making any changes to the configuration of VirtualBox or OpenSolaris.
