Hello!

I'm running OpenSolaris inside VirtualBox on a Windows XP host. I'm using
OpenSolaris 2009-06. I was using VirtualBox v2.2.4 and that was fine. I
recently upgraded my VirtualBox to v3.0.4 and now when OpenSolaris boots the X
server crashes leaving me with only a text mode console. It appears to crash
three times; each time the VirtualBox window resizes and then immediately
shrinks back down to the text console again. After a few seconds there is
another try, etc. After three tries it appears to give up.

I was able to log into the text console one time. In the X server log I saw
that it was receiving signal #11. However, now when I attempt to log into the
console, I never get a password prompt. I type my user name and the system then
goes dead (in effect). I have to basically just pull the plug on the virtual
machine after this.

There are some ugly messages in the VirtualBox log from the Guest BIOS saying
that certain int 13 parameters are out of range. Then there are a bunch of
messages related to Display::handleDisplayResize, but I don't know what they
mean. I'm attaching the log file to this post in the hope that someone better
than me can learn something from it.

Any thoughts as to where I should be looking to fix this? I'd prefer not to
reinstall if it can be avoided... assuming that will even work. As a side note,
my Linux virtual machine appears to be running fine so I believe my VirtualBox
upgrade is okay.

Peter
