hi ive got a:

Pentium D Dual Core 3Gzh | 1 gig ram | 775XFire-eSATA2 BIOS 1.20

I used to have solaris on it but the power supply blew. i replaced the power
supply but when i rebooted it the hard disk wouldnt boot the main option. so i
tried the previous kernel save and that was ok but after a few reboots that
also stopped working. i thought the drive might be flakey so i replaced that
and got the livecd to install a new version of it. that was the
beginning of hell and so far ive tried:

2008.05
2008.11
2009.06
and latest beta version

ive burnt them multiple times on different burners
tried different players in the pentium D machine etc... to no avail..
ive had apic errors freaking out over the PIC chip sending some bull back to
system
ive had lzmadecode failures (2008.11)
kernel panics etc..
all of which result in the operating system not being able to boot properly
well... sometimes it sort of werks and then crashes.
i once got it to install to about 98% where it then reset itself
oh yeah and frequently had alloc:/ file system full errors

ive looked all these up over the last three days
acpi errors can be got round by kernel booting options, can seem to get round
other errors by using 2008.11 but then i get this lzmadecode error and it also
crashes out to maintenance mode.

after all this hassle i assumed it must be some hardware errors - i tried some
diagnostic software checked the drive, memory, replaced the graphics card, ide
lead. etc.. all to no avail.. i really have no idea whats going on because i
tried a few other livecds. DSL linux, Frenas and a live windows cd. they all
work fine which seems to discount hardware error...

im trying to recover a four drive mirror from the previous system, and im not
sure of the procedure, if anyone can point me in the right direction of a good
howto for that id appreciate it and any help you can give.. thanks.
