Opensolaris is more current, up to date, a bit cooler.

Solaris is more thoroughly tested, locked down, unchanging.

Opensolaris is generally better, unless there's a specific need for solaris.

If you're considering learning for the sake of job postings ... Learn
opensolaris, and tinker with solaris so you are aware of the largest
differences.
