OpenSolaris can be downloaded from www.genunix.org . You should try the latest test build of OpenSolaris 2008.11 . It is a "live CD" that you can run on your system without installing it to your hard disk. At present, you need to write the OpenSolaris 2008.11 ISO image to a DVD as it is too big for a CD.
