What kind of optical device are you using?
Maybe an CD/DVD drive connected via USB?
I once had a similar problem on an ASUS
M2N-SLI deluxe mainboard and an USB 2.0
DVD device, see bug 6513165
"Error 25: Disk read error", when booting from usb dvd device

It was a BIOS bug, fixed by upgrading the BIOS to a newer
version.
