Hi, I am new to OS. I bought a HP DL160 server (Intel Xeon E4530, Intel 5400 chipset )as it says it was Solaris compatible however I can't get X to run and therefore can't get the installer binary to run.
I have tried to use xorgcfg -textmode to create a configuration file but after I ask to save and write the file, it gives me a segmenation fault. I have also tried to manually add a screen to the default config but the Xserver still errors with 'no screens found'. I think that might be my ignorance of the Xserver configuration. It's not necessary for me to run X on this server so I guess a quick solution would be run the installer in text mode but I cannot find any information on how to run a text-mode install. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might a) Run a text-mode install or b) Get my Xserver to run? TIA, Dp. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
