There is no text mode installer in OpenSolaris 2008.05. It's on the roadmap and will make an appearance at some point (not 2008.11). And personally I wouldn't call the GUI installer in 2008.05 'less flexible than Windows'. If anything it's more inline with the Windows install experience than the previous incarnation of the installer for Solaris/OpenSolaris which asked you all kinds of baroque questions that most users had no hope of answering correctly.
