Thanks Glen. I get the same trouble reported by VMware Workstation v6, so am thinking this is a buglet in OpenSolaris 2008.05 itself.
I'll ignore it and see whether I experience the gloomy-sounding "erroneous system operation" foretold at boot. This message posted from opensolaris.org
