After booting up from the live CD, I ran a command that was something like:

installgrub -m /boot/grub/stage1 /boot/grub/stage2 /dev/rdsk/c5d0s0

and I can now get past the "Bad PBR sig" error and I get grub to load and
OpenSolaris 2008.05 starts to boot on the drive that has it installed, but
seems like it kind of dies during the boot process when it gets a lot of weird
SATA related errors. Maybe the SATA errors are caused by the fact that two of
the drives that are supposed to be part of the 3 drive mirrored zpool are
unplugged? But that doesn't really make a lot of sense because ZFS is supposed
to be able to recover as long as a working drive that was part of the mirror
still works (I'm just using plain old normal mirroring and not RAID Z or
anything fancy here).
