dd probably complies with the Single Unix Specification, v3. Don't know how the GNU (Linux) version differs. Depending on the distro etc, it's possible that the GNU version is also available, either as gdd, or in /usr/gnu/bin, or on one or two distros that mostly use the GNU tools by default, in whatever the usual place is. If top isn't there, then prstat is, which is similar. Reiserfs would not work natively, don't know if anyone's got it working with fuse, don't think so though. Recent versions should be able to access Windows shares (of files, not necessarily printers), if configured properly. This message posted from opensolaris.org
