hello well i dont know which parameters for dd i need. but i can say. if i backup my drive this way, i know that the image file has the same size as the partition. well i am not sure, but i think that you can pipe the data stream through a zip program and zip the data this way to reduce the size.
i would youse the dd only as backup and don't wand to change or resize the partition. what is the naming of partitions of solaris? are they calles like linux /dev/sdx or /dev/hdx ??? This message posted from opensolaris.org
