Hi, I checked my own new OpenSolaris 2008.05 installation and Eric Allman's old and trusted Sendmail is still with us. So if you prefer comandline administration you can go right ahead and use Sendmail the same way we have done the last 20 years.
And the good news is: Its running by default. You dont need to configure Sendmail unless you want something fancy. You do need to do two things : 1 ) configure the DNS host "mailhost" The default sendmail configuration uses the name "mailhost" as the name for the closest mail gateway . could be your ISP's mailserver ....... 2) Set Up DNS entries You need to configure an A record. and a MX record. for you local mailserver ( the one you propose to setup ) Mail Delivery do not work with BAD or non existent DNS entries. //Lars This message posted from opensolaris.org
