Yes, there is a place for improvements. But OpenSolaris is very young when you 
compare it to Linux.

I think same that 'man -k' must run out of the box. 'pfexec catman -w' may be 
started automatically after installation or so. Even on BSD you must manually 
update db for man if you install some application from ports which can't do 
that automatically. But of course there is a message about it after 
installation so you know that you must do something. Similar message is missing 
in OpenSolaris when you try 'man -k'.

BTW Linux is not Unix. Solaris, MacOs, HP-UX, AIX,.. are only certified Unix. I 
know that this is just very big marketing hype for managers and nothing useful 
for real use of systems in production, but maybe this is a reason of some 
"exotic".
