I have only install from repositories after the first install.    If 
your laptop is on the network and you have a fast connection then just 
switch to the right publisher

/usr/bin/pkg set-publisher -P -O http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev/ 
opensolaris.org

Then run the pkg update either from the command line or GUI and it will 
create the new BE for you.   You can then switch between BE with the 
beadm command.
