White box Intel D945GCZ motherboard, dual core emt64 processor, 3 SATA drives: 160G, 160G, and 300G multibooting XP, Fedora Core 5 32 & 64 bit, and (maybe) S10 and SNV-xx with System Commander. The partitions on the 1st 2 drives were created with System Commander, the 3rd with XP. The 2nd drive has two pre-existing empty Solaris paritions and an extended partition.
Attempts to install S10 U1 and SNV 40 to the 2nd drive (or 3rd drive just as a test) fail with: Warning! The initial fdisk information found on disk C2D1 (or C1D1) was invalid. Defaulting the entire disk to a Solaris partition. (over my dead body...) If I select the 1st drive - two NTFS partitions and a FAT32, fdisk is happy - but I don't want any of my unixen on that drive. I had previously successfully installed SNV 20 on this box back when it had a singe-core hyperthreading cpu and just two 160G SATA drives. In that configuration the 2nd drive was set up as it is in the failing config. Fixes, clues, sympathy...
