A quick whack with the clue bat....

Using linux fdisk and sfdisk it looked like all the partitions were OK _but_ 
several on the 2nd drive were marked active - including the extended partition 
(!)

Reset all the active flags and solaris fdisk seems happy.  Installing snv 40 
now and will try S10U1 later today.

Clearing the active flags will probably flag the linux partitions as unbootable 
to System Commander so I will probably have to turn them back on once the 
solaris installs are done.  (IIRC SC uses the active flag to decide which 
partitions to show as bootable in its menu)

Sorry about the noise (but maybe the clue will help someone else).
