Hi

Can you post an output of "lspci -v" ?

AMD platform isn't an issue because Solaris was AMD optimised till now (now
it'll also be Intel optmised). It's the other things like network/wifi etc that
/might/ be an issue.

Only 1 primary partition (called "fdisk partitition") is needed for Solaris.
Like freebsd etc, it is then "sliced" further (analogous to logical partitions)
so that is a non-issue.

I think it should be a good experience... a linux certified HW shouldn't have
much issues under Solaris.

As for the version/distribution, go for latest Solaris Express Community
Edition (the lastest build right now is 72 and has quite some funky stuff).
Developer edition is usually bit more tested but around half a dozen builds
behind (current is based off buld 64) + Sun Studio compilers and Netbeans
bundled, the latest editions of whom you can download and install from SUN
site... the bundled ones are "stable" (i.e. bit old) ones. I'd recommend latest
Studio 12 compiler and Netbeans 6.0 beta... (ofcourse, gcc is bundled, so Sun
compilers are your "choice").

Backup first though. It isn't supposed to blow up, but why risk stuff anyways.
