Hi all,

I am new to Solaris and I am trying to learn how to use it. One of the things I
would really like to do is using live-upgrade.

I decided to try this feature with a x86 box which has currently installed
solaris10,and I would like to lu it to SXCEb76.

The box has one hard drive with the following layout:
30% of disk space: Windows Xp C: partition
25%: Windows Xp E: partition
20%: Solaris Partition (c0d0p3 I belive, If I correctly understand Solaris
namig conventions)
The rest of the disk space is unallocated.

So I think: let's create a solaris partition with the unallocated space, mount
it somewhere and use it to lu the solaris installation. I went to the
doc.sun.com downloaded the "System Administration Guide: Devices and File
Systems"(http://dlc.sun.com/pdf/817-5093/817-5093.pdf) and started to try to
figure out how to create a partition.I read the manual and issued a

#format /dev/rdsk/c0d0

command
I have followed the "how to" up to the fdsik part, which was succesfull.
according to the tutorial the next step should be the creation of disk slices
for the partition but when I try to

#format /dev/rdsk/c0d0
format> partition
partition> modify

the system says that the current disk has mounted slices and that it cannot
proceed, which I find sensible but somewhat disappointing. :P

So the questions are: what's wrong with the above outlined way of reasoning?
And ,if nothing is wrong, what should I do to allocate that space in order to
use it?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Valerion

P.S. thanks also for the wireless drivers! :)
