I'm pulling my hair out (well what's left of it anyway) trying to install S10 X86 on an intel laptop. Everytime I put in the installation disc it starts up, has a quick think then says it's installing in 32bit!
I have a new, clean hard drive, a 64bit T60 running an Intel T5500. I checked the Hardware Platform Support matrix and it does say it supports the T60 running a T5600, I've also run it on a 64bit Toshiba laptop which doesn't appear in the list and the same thing happens. I appreciate my T60 has a slightly slower chip than the 5600 but architecturally I beleive these two chips to be identical so I'm very dubious that this is the problem. Has anyone had any experience of this or know any commands to get grub to go with the 64bit route? Or maybe it's possible to install in 32bit then perform changes after?
