I've been doing one succesful live upgrade, but fails on the second. Setup is much like that in http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=149376
system on c1d0s0 upgrade system on c1d0s3 I do a lumake to reuse previuos partition, and then luupgrade -u -n be74 -s /export/install/dvd luactivate be74 and then init 6. The grub menu gets updated, but the upgraded be does not boot. Screen goes blank and machine reboots. If I skip the luupgrade, things go fine, and the duplicated environment is bootable. Any ideas what can be wrong? Where can find logfiles for fo lu-things done during reboot? (I can choose be1 or failsafe and come back to previous version. The suggestion about mounting the parent environment and do /mnt/usr/sbin/luactivate only givs an error on /etc/lutab not found.
