Solaris does not have "initrd" :-)
Ok. So you have somehow broken the Gnome Repository for your user
I have done that myself - but not in this fashion.
The way I recoverd from it was like this .
Log in as root.
rename my homedirectory to /export/home/Old-user
make a new directory for my home with the corect name.
fix the permission and owner ship of the directory
logout from root
login to my "new" account and the gnome repository will recreate
itself.
move my old files over from the /export/home/Old-user to my new
Home.
