(Didn't see an "edit" button to add this) Tried 4 different downloads of OpenSolaris LiveCD 9.06 x86 in case there was a data error there, but all seems fine with them in VirtualBox. ...Two different downloads of the ai.
I think I have 2 more things to try tonight/tomorrow: a) Turn off the onboard networking devices (nVidia nForce4/Marvel Yukon II). See if that changes it. b) Pull the Creative Labs Xifi Xtreme Gamer PCI sound card.
