That LSI 3800x PCI-X SAS controller sure is expensive. If I did get another controller, it'd be something in the $50 range. (so we're all on the same page, 100MB/s from a hard drive is plenty fast for me)
I did some more tests, and it turns out that I can use any two drives on the second controller without losing speed, but then I lose about 30% of my speed if I try to use three drives at once.
