Depending on the version of solaris you are using and what type of expansion
slots you could look at the AOC-USAS-S8i (2009.6 3Gb/s) or AOC-USAS2-L8i
(newer builds 6Gb/s). They are both less expensive than the LSI 3800x but are
still more than $50, I had a problem with cheap cards (silicon image) that ate
1.5 TB of data =( because of some corruption because of the drivers or
something like that. If you have pci-e slots these will not disappoint. Some
have reported problems with certain motherboards, but the AOC-USAS-S8i has
worked in 3 different mobo's of mine.
