Seems that I observe something similar. I'm running SX:CE b124, rhythmbox,
the audiohd drvier, and the system is bfu'ed to the latest onnv kernel bits.
rhythmbox plays .ogg clips just fine for several minutes, but after after
a random time (10 - 20 minutes) some additional static background noise
can be heard on the speakers.
Workaround is to double click the current clip in rhythmbox's playlist,
which stops audio playback and re-starts playback of the track - the
background noise is gone.
