Sorry for cutting in here, in reality both languages have similar roots but 
they differ a lot when it comes to
terminology and some grammatical structures... something published in either of 
those locales (Portugal and/or Brazil) 
cannot be used interchangeably, especially when it comes to the IT industry... 
these languages have evolved differently
when it comes to  usage and terminology.

I believe that we may want to have both:  national PT, and Brazilian PT.
