if you have a working GUI, you can do the following:
`startx kde -- :1`. That will start kde on another GUI. You can switch
between the two with [CTRL][ALT][F7] and [CTRL][ALT][F8]

Naturaly gnome, windowmaker and others can be also used. Do `wmlist` to
see wich ones are installed and usable.
