I've seen this in the past when shutdown tries to unload modules, usually those having to do with ACPI modules ac battery button fan processor and thermal. you can (as root) rmmod each of these in turn and see if the system locks up. There was a setting in 9.x versions in /etc/sysconfig/powermanagement to prevent unloading these, but I don't know where those settings migrated to in 10. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
